| How to Make Your Own Infinitely Replenish-able Cell-Phone Charger for Use at Long Term Occupations |
It is very easy to make a cell phone charger powered by AA batteries. There are simpler designs than what I will explain here, but the design herein is easier to use over and over. You will need the following:
An 8 AA Battery Holder. You can get one at Radio Shack here:

A vehicle power accessory outlet. You can get one here:

(Of course, you can get the first part from (1) a 12 volt flash light (2) a boom-box; and the second part from any junked car).
A soldering iron (available at Radio Shack, most hardware stores, craft stores) and solder.
You can do without the solder by simply twisting the exposed wire of the leads from the power outlet to the battery holder, but this will quickly stop working due to corrosion.
Strip the plastic coating off of about 1 inch of the end of the red and black wires extending from the power outlet.
Once you have the parts, it's extremely easy. Locate the one terminal on the battery holder that does not connect to anything else and upon which the positive end of a battery would contact. Solder this terminal to the red wire on the power outlet.
Next, find the one terminal on the batter holder that does not connect to anything else and upon which the negative end of a batter would contact. Solder the black wire to this terminal.
Put the 8 AA batteries into the holder.
Plug your car cell-phone charger into the outlet and you're done. It should be charging.
Make sure you don't let positive and negative wires come in contact with each other anywhere where their metal interiors are exposed.
