Dark Age
A dark age has come It began with an idea An idea like a virus Destroying the immune system of the mind Taking root in the anesthetized collective consciousness Of a people tuned to four television networks A couple of hundred cable channels Several hundred radio stations Tuned into a narrow bandwidth of experience Primed for propaganda Riveted to virtual reality Blind to the continuous world beyond Lulled into acceptance Zombied masses devoted to the call Of credit cards and consumption Of obsession and compulsion Mortgaged futures focusing the collective aim To sustain the machine To forfeit the option to say NO To eliminate all options beyond submission To march with the mindless corporate legions To be PRACTICAL To be practically nothing Less than nothing The instrument of the executioner Who waits by the gallows And takes away life One piece at a time One moment at a time That moment you thought of the future That moment you acted for the preservation Of your possessions That is the moment that was stolen For nothing is yours And everything is subject to early withdrawal With penalty or without Does it really fucking matter! Either way you lose NOW Now - this moment That's all there is That's all there ever was That's all there will ever be When you lose sight of that fact YOU ARE DEAD
