Anarkhos' Library of Short Stories

Welcome to a unique collection of short stories aimed at various real-life topics relevant to ethics and anti-authoritarianism. As a philosopher, anarchist, and former teacher of ethics, my hope is to stimulate thought about various issues regarding human relationships. Some of these stories are inspired by actual events in my own life. Perhaps by writing about these and similar events from the distance of time past, I can impart on those younger than myself some of the lessons I've learned and, thereby, save others from themselves and those who love them from the damage that ignorant choices inflict.

The price of youth is the bill that comes later in life
listing the costs of having been an asshole.

Bridget O'Bunny (The Snitch Bunny) - Watch out for snitches and don't be a Bridget O'Bunny. A great story to share with your children or the students in your class.

Fagot! - A story of the pain of bigotry and the lasting effect it can have on its victims.

Getting Paid - A young man and his friend learn about capitalism, exploitation, and getting even.

I Pledge Allegiance to No One - Two you women rebel against indoctrination.

Inequality - A story about why age differences between young lovers can be important. It is my hope that young men might learn the importance of respecting young women and their stages of life.

Mommy, What is Government? - A future mother and daughter, living in a better world, discuss the primitive notion of government.

Patriotism is Hatred in a Red, White and Blue Suit - A boy and his mother discuss patriotism after confronting anti-immigrant bigots.

People are More Important than Rules - A father and daughter decide not to enforce the rules.

Shadow of the Rooster - An old man comes to terms with the treachery of a former friend (intended for adult readers).

Shoplifting – A light consideration of the ethics of theft.

The Life of Coward – Two brothers make different choices about participation in war.

Why Do Old People Frown? - A young boy learns about the suffering life inflicts upon each one of us as we grow older.

Why Do Some Children Belief in Santa Claus? - This story explores why some parents teach their children to believe in Santa Claus while others choose to tell their children the truth.
